What to Expect on your First Visit

The first visit at the Soft Tissue Center is a ninety-minute to a two-hour appointment for a typical case.  This will vary with several factors.  Once the initial intake forms are completed, an hour is allocated for the patient history and examination. A second hour is allocated to begin treatment, if treatment is indicated.

We often have complicated cases referred to us for a diagnosis. These cases may require the entire initial visit for the history and examination only.  Very complex cases may require even more time over two visits to gather the medical history and to perform examinations of multiple regions of the body.

We may conclude that additional clinical data is required before treatment can begin. This additional data may be in the form of various imaging studies (x-ray, MRI, MR arthrogram, CT scan, MR neurography, MR angiography, bone scan, bone density studies) or electrodiagnostic studies (EMG, nerve conduction velocity, F-wave). Treatment may, or may not, be initiated before these studies are performed and this decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.

We do have doctors who participate as providers in some insurance plans.   We can identify these plans when you call for an appointment.  We will verify the patient’s insurance for in-network or out of network coverage, as may apply to each patient .  The patient’s insurance coverage will be verified and the results will be explained. This will occur as soon as the insurance company responds to our inquiry. Often many hours of waiting on the telephone while on hold is needed to communicate with any given insurance company.  A copy of this verification will be provided to the patient.

We are not now, nor have we ever been, Medicare providers.

We do not accept insurance payment as payment in full.  Payment is expected at the time services are rendered.

Enclosed are several forms that are required.   You can print and complete them at home and bring them to the office at the time of your appointment.  This will save you time.  There will be other forms to complete at the office as well.  Enclosed are: 1) patient intake form, 2) pain scale, 3) pain diagram, 4) quality of life questionnaire.
